THEBES, Ill. -- Anita Dalton of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Thebes, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014. She served the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully all her life and is now rejoicing with him.
She was born in 1935 in Cairo, Ill., to Doris Parnell and Guy Gammon. She grew up in Thebes and was valedictorian of her 1953 graduating class.
Anita married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Eugene "Deacon" Dalton, in June 1953 and moved to Chicago. They started a family and had six daughters before moving to Colorado, where Ray passed away in 1976.
She and her daughters moved to north Idaho in 1977 and lived there before moving to Spokane, where Anita worked and retired. Anita was involved in choir and musical productions at her church for many years.
Anita's amazing faith in the Lord has left a lasting legacy of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who serve the Lord. Anita will be remembered as being full of grace, kindness, love and compassion to all the people in her life.
She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Some of Anita's other loves were following NHL hockey and eating chocolates. She enjoyed music, reading books, watching movies and being outside tending to her flowers.
Survivors include six daughters, Monica Dalton, Rhonda Corriveau, Cheryl Dalton, Cindy Sorensen, Karen (Rick) Sherman and Gwen (H.R.) Huntsman; a brother, Jim Blakemore; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives whom she loved very much.
