BURFORDVILLE -- Funeral for Dayton Eugene "Andy" Andrews of Cordova, Tenn., was held Saturday at Germantown Road Chapel in Ellendale, Tenn. The Rev. Virgil Stoneking officiated. Burial was in Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery in Ellendale.

Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home of Somerville, Tenn., was in charge of arrangements.

Andrews, 74, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born June 22, 1925, at Burfordville, son of Luther Eugene and Carrie Francis Chenoweth Andrews. He and Jeanne Mae McCaskill were married Aug. 4, 1970.

Andrews lived in California more than 35 years and worked at an automobile dealership. He later was sales representative at Sun Electric Corp. in Chicago more than 20 years, retiring in 1987. He had lived in Cordova the past 10 years.

He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn., and its Adult Men's Sunday School Class. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Charlotte Straight of Riverside, Calif., Beverly Thaxton of Rialto, Calif., Lynn Davidson of Sydney, Ohio; three sons, Michael Andrews of Vista, Calif., Ricky Joyner of Houston, Texas, James Simpson of San Marcos, Calif.; a sister, Wilma Davenport of Lakeland, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
