ORAN, Mo. — Ambrose Elfrink, 83, of Montgomery City, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at New Florence Nursing and Care Center in New Florence, Mo.
He was born April 21, 1925, in Oran to Benjamin John Elfrink and Christina Beel Elfrink. He and Bessie Marie Cobb were married Nov. 12, 1952. She died Oct. 29, 1990. He and Velma McClelland Carr were married Aug. 17, 1991. She died March 16, 2006.
Elfrink retired from Decora as a maintenance supervisor. He also worked several years in the same building for other companies before Decora came to Montgomery City. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montgomery City and a volunteer at Fulton State Hospital in Fulton, Mo.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from Sept. 12, 1945, to Jan. 9, 1951.
Survivors include five children, Delores Cullom of New Florence, Joseph Elfrink of St. Louis, Christine Aston of Wright City, Mo., Monica Hoeber of Warrenton, Mo., Jonathan Elfrink of Pilot Grove, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Glasser of Kelso, Mo., and Martha Weissmueller of Chaffee, Mo.
He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.
Funeral Mass was held Nov. 14 at Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, with the Rev. Edward Doyle officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Montgomery City, with military honors conducted.
Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City was in charge of arrangements.
