FROHNA, Mo. -- Amanda C. Steffens, 84, of Frohna died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville, Mo.
She was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of Edward and Ida Roth Detjen. She and Willard L. Steffens were married May 11, 1947. He preceded her in death May 11, 1998.
Mrs. Steffens had been co-owner of Steffens Orchard. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and LWML in Altenburg, Mo.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Denise Steffens of Perryville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Larry Goetz of Chaffee, Mo., Christine and Roger Schlichting of Frohna; a son-in-law, Ronald Meyr of New Wells; a sister, Helen Stueve of Farrar, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Janice Meyr; a grandson, Steven Goetz; a great-granddaughter, Emily Niedbalski; and a brother, Melvin Detjen.
Visitation will be a from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Sunday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Jonathan Stites officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
