LEOPOLD -- Alvin B. Vandeven, 68, of Leopold, died Friday, June 28, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 25, 1928, at Leopold, son of Gerhard and Anna Thele Vandeven. He and Helen Louise Glastetter were married Aug. 8, 1953.

Vandeven was a farmer. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Alvin Vandeven Jr. of Chaffee, John, Gary, Larry and Edward Vandeven, all of Marble Hill, Ronald Vandeven of Boca Raton, Fla., Gerard Vandeven of Zalma; a daughter, Elaine Hinkebein of Benton, Ky.; two brothers, Frank Vandeven of Owensville, Edward Vandeven of Fenton; two sisters, Amelda Schreckengost of Hazelwood, Dorothy Glastetter of Scott City, and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters and a granddaughter.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill after 4 p.m. Sunday. The parish rosary will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Church, with the Rev. Bill Huggins officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
