VANDUSER, Mo. -- Funeral for Alvie J. Burton of Vanduser will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Mo. The Rev. Dale Huff will officiate. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery at Benton, Mo.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until time of service.

Burton, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

He was born April 26, 1912, in Buttermilk, Ark., son of S.W. and Mary Miranda Burton. He and Carol Reynolds were married Aug. 16, 1969.

Burton was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gene Burton of Cape Girardeau, Lester Burton of Tyler, Texas, Charles "Paul" Burton of St. Louis; five daughters, Dorothy Haupt of Egypt Mills, Mo., Bonnie Bowers of Delta, Mo., Bonita Sanders of Matthews, Mo., Patty Sexton and Kristy Shultz of Sikeston; a sister, Inus Duvall of Russellville, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and a sister.
