ARNOLD, Mo. � Alva L. Shell, 97 1/2, of Arnold passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at St. Andrews at Francis Place in Eureka, Missouri. He was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Lutesville, Missouri, son of Arthur and Willie Francis Shell. Alva served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II in the 5th Infantry on the frontline. He was chosen to take the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in September 2017 in honor of his service during World War II...

ARNOLD, Mo. � Alva L. Shell, 97 1/2, of Arnold passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at St. Andrews at Francis Place in Eureka, Missouri.

He was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Lutesville, Missouri, son of Arthur and Willie Francis Shell.

Alva served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II in the 5th Infantry on the frontline. He was chosen to take the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in September 2017 in honor of his service during World War II.

Survivors include his grandson, Alex Shell of St. Charles, Missouri; five great-nieces, Vicki Blowers of Arnold, Kathy Wingbermuehle of Arnold, Sherri Hangsleben of Edwardsville, Illinois, Stephanie Shell of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Laura Shell Taber of Cape Girardeau; four great-nephews, Michael Lewis of Arkansas, BJ Shell of Florida, Tony Shell of St. Charles and Ken Shell of St. Charles; and great-great-nieces, -nephews and friends to many.

Alva was preceded in death by his parents; son, Aldon Shell; four brothers, Leeman Shell, Lester Shell, Truman Shell and Virgil Shell; two sisters, Eleanor Shell and Gladys Elledge; and a special friend, Cathy Kelso.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church in Marble Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. David Jordan officiating. Interment will be in the Hurricane Fork Cemetery near Marble Hill.
