Alva E. "Al" Snell, 69, of Lombard, Ill., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died at his home Sunday, July 9, 1995.
He was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Thebes, Ill., to Lee J. and Dora Moore Snell. He married Alean Portlock, who preceded him in death. He later married Barbara Petersen, who survives.
Snell, a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School, retired in 1988 as vice president of purchasing for Florsheim Shoes, where he worked for 43 years.
Survivors are one son, Michael Snell of Maryland; two stepsons, Joe Fritz of Lake in the Hills, Ill., and John Fritz of Bloomingdale, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Jeannine Cichorski of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; two brothers, Stanley Snell of Cape Girardeau and Dewey Cameron of Sun City, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
Service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Dissen officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
