JACKSON -- Altha Smith, 79, formerly of Jackson, died at her home in Amarilla, Tex. Tuesday, July 27, 1992.
She was born April 3, 1914, in Jackson, daughter of Charles W. Meyer and Erna Lowes Meyer.
She married Glenn F. Smith on Dec. 25, 1941. He preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1975.
She is survived by two brothers, Carlton "Cotton" Meyer of Jackson, and Harold Meyer of Sugarland, Tex.; three sisters, Dorothy Ann Ficken, of St. Louis, LaVerne Bangert of Jackson, and Betty Hessenflow of Colorado Springs, Colo.
She moved to Texas from Jackson in 1948.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Amarillo. She was previously affiliated with Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and St. Paul Lutheran at Jackson.
She worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson. She worked at Kline's Clothing Store in Amarillo.
Service will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson, with the Rev. Lawrence Etherton officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
