DONGOLA, Ill. -- Altha Mae Mowery, 88, of Arlington, Texas, and formerly of Memphis, Tenn., and Cairo, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Heritage Oaks Nursing Home at Arlington.
She was born Aug. 9, 1911, at Ullin, daughter of Clarence Everett and Allie Melvina Barringer Mowery.
She was a retired bookkeeper with JCPenney at Cairo and Memphis. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Survivors include four nephews, David Mowery of Arlington, James Mowery of Horn Lake, Miss., the Rev. Judd Mowery of Troy, Tenn., and Robert Mowery of Little Rock, Ark.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home at Dongola.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Judd Mowery will officiate, with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery.
