BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Alta M. Reed, 89, of Bloomfield died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomfield.
She was born Aug. 31, 1915, in Lexington, Tenn., daughter of Garfield and Lucy Belle Johnson Davis. She first married Montie White at Steele, Mo., who died in 1984. She and Lois A. Reed were married Oct. 17, 1985, at Dexter, Mo. He died Feb. 5, 1995.
Reed formerly worked at the State School for the Handicapped at Bloomfield. She was formerly of Dexter and a member of Dexter Church of Christ.
Survivors include four sons, Jerry White of Cape Girardeau, Kenneth White of St. Louis, Charles White of Advance, Mo., Ron White of Springfield, Mo.; a stepson, Wafe Reed of Dexter; a sister, Aldeena Southern of Portageville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Dale Grissom officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
