PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Alma Mary Zahner, 99, of Perryville died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born April 14, 1901, in Perry County, daughter of Thomas and Caroline Hayden Whistler. She and William J. Zahner were married March 4, 1924. He died Feb. 20, 1977...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Alma Mary Zahner, 99, of Perryville died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 14, 1901, in Perry County, daughter of Thomas and Caroline Hayden Whistler. She and William J. Zahner were married March 4, 1924. He died Feb. 20, 1977.

Zahner retired from International Shoe Co. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Donald Zahner of St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter, Velda Wilson of Perryville; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Thursday, and Friday from 6:30-9:40 a.m. The parish wake will be at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
