EAST PRAIRIE -- Alma W. Skaggs, 89, of East Prairie, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 1996, at Bertrand Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 28, 1906, in Oran, daughter of Arthur and Sally Smith Woodruff. She and Lee Skaggs were married Jan. 20, 1924. He died June 15, 1968.
Skaggs was a teacher in rural Mississippi County schools about 20 years. She was a member of First Church of God where she taught Sunday School several years and was a member of the Ora Scott Circle. She had also been active in East Prairie RSVP.
Survivors include two sons, Bill and Robin Skaggs of East Prairie; a daughter, Norma Marshall of Charleston; a sister, Opal Pilbeam of Detroit, Mich.; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, daughter, sister and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
