Alma M. Stone, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1908, at Doniphan, the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth O'Neill Barnes.

She graduated from Doniphan High School and Southeast Missouri State University.

She taught in the Ripley County school system and the Cape Girardeau public schools as a special education teacher.

She was a member of Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church and the Women's Auxiliary, and the Rose Garden Club.

She married Polk H. Stone on Oct. 21, 1935, at Pocahontas, Ark. He died on Nov. 25, 1983.

She is survived by two sons, James W. Stone of Milpitas, Calif., and Polk H. Stone of Wildwood; two daughters, Nancy A. Glosemeyer of Cape Girardeau and Maryellen J. Martinez of Tacoma, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. Parish prayers will be recited at 7 at the funeral home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Old St. Vincent Catholic Church.

The Rev. Milton Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
