Alma E. Messner, 90, of the Lutheran Home, formerly of Kohler, Wis., passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Sheboygan, Wis., daughter of Fred and Theresa Kunz Richter. She and Kenneth E. Messner were married Aug. 24, 1940, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death July 8, 1993.
Alma had been a clerical worker at Kohler Co., and prior to that was a florist with Sheboygan Greenhouse. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler, where she served in Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Altar Guild and Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge, making bread and socializing with friends. Alma loved her family dearly and will be remembered by neighbors for her thoughtful acts.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra (Jeff) Martin of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Monica Messner of Plymouth, Wis.; a son-in-law, Carl Allmann of Plymouth; nine grandchildren, Lori Allmann of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., Scott (Shelly) Allmann of Plymouth, Mark (Sandy) Allmann of New Holstein, Wis., Carla Allmann of Oshkosh, Wis., Melissa (Curt) Steinhaus of Glendale, Wis., Michelle (Tom) Bohm of Oostburg, Wis., Michael Messner of Milwaukee, Wis., Jessica (Shane) Goodwin of Jackson, Julie Martin of Hyde Park, N.Y.; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Harriet Richter of Manitowoc, Wis.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; a daughter, Nancy Allmann; a son, Ken "Lonnie" Messner; a sister, Frieda (Lester) Prange; and a brother, Walter Richter.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler, with the Rev. Robert Steele officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Kohler.
Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established in Alma's name for St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
