MOUNDS, Ill. -- Alma Gertrude Pirtle, 88, of Mounds died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1992, at the Ridgeview Nursing Center in Malden, Mo.
She was born Sept. 14, 1904 in Lounds, Mo., the daughter of Albert and Emma Thurston Charles.
She was the owner of Pirtle's Cafe in Mounds for more than 20 years prior to her retirment. She also was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mounds.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Harvey Pirtle, in 1957.
Survivors include a son, Charles Pirtle of Mounds; a daughter, Joyce Walker of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds, where funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. F. Jerry Herring will officiate, and burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds.
