Alma Eftink

ORAN, Mo. -- Alma Lorena Eftink, 82, of Oran passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at her home.

She was born March 9, 1934, in New Hamburg, Missouri, to the late Henry and Pauline Halter Horrell. She married Lawrence H. Eftink on Jan. 14, 1953, and he preceded her in death April 23, 1983.

Alma was a homemaker in her own home. She was a housekeeper for several area priests for a number of years. Alma also took care of many sick people over the years.

She was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, the St. Ann Sodality and the parish Council of Catholic Women.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Alice VanGennip; a brother, Charles Horrell; two sisters, Teresa Eftink and Mary Lucille Ackman; and a grandchild, Michael VanGennip.

Survivors include two sons, Leroy Eftink of Oran and the Rev. Glenn Eftink of Advance, Missouri; two brothers, Paul Horrell of Kelso, Missouri, and Theon Horrell of Leopold, Missouri; three sisters, Loretta Kolozy of Newport News, Virginia, Alice Gosche of Chaffee, Missouri, and Martha Sheppard of Scott City; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Guardian Angel Catholic School in Oran. Parish rosary will be at 4 p.m. Friends also may call from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the school.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, with the Rev. Eftink as the celebrant. Bishop Edward Rice will offer the final commendation prayers. Burial will be at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Oran.
