Alma E. Palisch Bodenschatz, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Fountainbleau Lodge. She was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Altenburg, Mo., daughter of Adolph C. and Freida M. Jungclauss Palisch. She and Raymond O. Bodenschatz were married June 18, 1944, in Altenburg. He died May 23, 1992...

Alma E. Palisch Bodenschatz, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Fountainbleau Lodge.

She was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Altenburg, Mo., daughter of Adolph C. and Freida M. Jungclauss Palisch. She and Raymond O. Bodenschatz were married June 18, 1944, in Altenburg. He died May 23, 1992.

Alma was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and its Elderberrys, church quilters, World Relief Committee and its bereavement committee. She had been a member of Trinity Lutheran School PTA, Trinity Church Junior Ladies Aid, and its church guild. She had been a member of Fort D Senior Citizens, West Side Senior Citizens, Colonial Bank Senior Citizens and VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary.

During her retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling on bus tours all over America.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Jane Sander of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Keith Sander and wife Martha of Jackson, Shelbey L. Mayberry and husband Rick of Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Kyle and Tylyn Mayberry, Dakota and Cheyenne Sander; four sisters-in-law, Nelda, Irene and Elda Palisch and Freida Lorenz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Edgar, Werner, Elmer and Herbert Palisch; and a sister, Lorna Palisch.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
