Allene Frances Metheny, 78, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at her home in St. Charles City, Iowa.

She was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Arbor, daughter of the late Herbert and Frieda Gerecke Quade. In June 1941 she married William E. Metheny. He passed away Jan. 7, 1990.

Survivors include a son, William "Pete" Metheny of Charles City, Iowa; a daughter, Jean Rehak of Oak Ridge; three brothers, Harry Quade of Chaffee, Norman Quade and Paul Quade of Cape Girardeau; five sisters, Margaret Burnett of Chaffee, Naomi Suzuki of Granite City, Ill., Magdalene Carter of Knoxville, Tenn., Rose Quade of Dexter, Emma Pederson of Springfield; three grandchildren, Edward Rehak, Frances Jenkins and William Rehak; and a great-grandchild, William Jenkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Carolyn Lee; three brothers, and four sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson on Wednesday, Jan. 19, between 4-8 p.m.

Funeral service will be at McCombs Thursday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m., followed by interment in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Grant Gillard will officiate.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Arthritis Foundation.
