MILL CREEK, Ill. -- Allen Monroe Whitney, 70, of Mill Creek, died at his home Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1992.
He was born Nov. 14, 1921 at Uniontown, Ky., the son of William E. and Lucy Myers Whitney.
On Nov. 2, 1940, he married the former Myrtle A. Kidd in Charleston. She survives.
He was a retired construction labor and farmer and a veteran of World War II.
He is also survived by four sons, William A. Whitney, Virginia Beach, Va., Cecil Ray Whitney, Jonesboro, Mikel Whitney, Anna, Mark Whitney, Mill Creek; five daughters, Patricia Ann Smith, Cobden, Naomi Sue Atwell, Anna, Ruth Wells, Dinwiddie, Va., Rose Evans, Anna, Cindy Sutton, Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Naomi Whitney, Jonesboro, Barbara Jackson, Clinton, Ky.; two brothers, J.E. Whitney, Macon, N.C., Bill Whitney, West Memphis, Ark.; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna with the Rev. Lacy Betts officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Anna VFW Post 3455.
