PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Allen E. Schumer, 56, of Perryville died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 18, 1947, at Perryville, son of Herman and Minnie Huber Schumer. He and Janice Scherer were married in April 1969.
Schumer was a manufacturing engineer at TG Missouri Corp., and was a freelance artist. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and American Legion Post 133. He was a reader at St. Mary's of the Barrens Catholic Church, and had been active in Girl Scouts.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Apryl Sample, Aarica Wideman and Janal Schumer of Perryville, Stephanie Vandeven of Leopold, Mo.; four brothers, Gary Schumer of Orlando, Fla., Roger Schumer of St. Louis, Russell Schumer of Old Appleton, Mo., Stephen Schumer of Perryville; two sisters, Kathy McCune and Mary Schafroth of Perryville; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 6:30 to 9:40 a.m. The parish wake will be at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by the legion wake at 7:15.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, with military graveside service by American Legion Post 133.
