Allen Ruth
Allen R. Ruth, 58, of Scott City, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at his home. He had been a patient in the St. Louis VA Medical Center for the past 2 months.
Mr. Ruth was born in Irondale, Mo., on July 16, 1949, son of Raymond T. and Treva M. Terry Ruth. He married Belva J. Welch on July 2, 1976, in Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Jackson. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Navy River Patrol Force during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; his father of Scott City; a son, John (Lisa) Ruth of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Cindy (Mike) Brown of Scott City; a brother, Mike (Betty) Ruth of Scott City; a sister, Debbie Ruth of Scott City; a godson, Charles (Susan) Kohlberg of Edwardsville, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
His mother preceded him in death in 1996.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Revs. Luther Rhodes, Joseph Ruth and Kevin Mann officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
