FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Alice "Babe" Simmers, 65, of Farmington, formerly of Advance, Mo., died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Ashbrook Manor in Farmington. She was born Aug. 7, 1935, at St. Louis, daughter of Charles and Stella Turnbaugh Ross. She had worked for many years as a seamstress for Thorngate Company in Chaffee. She and Elvis Simmers were married Dec. 22, 1967. He died July 2, 1975...

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Alice "Babe" Simmers, 65, of Farmington, formerly of Advance, Mo., died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Ashbrook Manor in Farmington.

She was born Aug. 7, 1935, at St. Louis, daughter of Charles and Stella Turnbaugh Ross. She had worked for many years as a seamstress for Thorngate Company in Chaffee. She and Elvis Simmers were married Dec. 22, 1967. He died July 2, 1975.

Survivors include four sons, Tim Ryon of Potosi, Mo., Gene Ryon and Elvis Simmers Jr., both of Jackson, Mo., and Ellis Simmers of Advance; one daughter, Gloria Sansoucie of Mineral Point, Mo.; one stepson, Mike Simmers of Sturdivant, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Sheila Dickenson of Zalma, Mo., and Rhonda McGomery of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one sister, Angline Szolga of St. Louis; 30 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, two sisters and one brother.

Friends may call from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cato Cemetery in Arab, Mo.
