CHAFFEE -- Alice Barbara Barnes, 88, of Chaffee died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born June 10, 1909, at Seventy-Six, daughter of Joseph F. and Geraldine Huey Schneier. She and James Artie Barnes were married Oct. 8, 1924. He died Feb. 10, 1988...

CHAFFEE -- Alice Barbara Barnes, 88, of Chaffee died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 10, 1909, at Seventy-Six, daughter of Joseph F. and Geraldine Huey Schneier. She and James Artie Barnes were married Oct. 8, 1924. He died Feb. 10, 1988.

Barnes was a sewing machine operator 24 years at Sports Specialty Shoe Factory. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and Daughters of St. Ambrose.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Lovelace of Festus, Mary Staples of Lady Lake, Fla.; a brother, Robert Schneier of High Ridge; six sisters, Pauline Liebarger of Laramie, Wyo., Eva Petz of Indianapolis, Ind., Marveline "Dutch" Figgermier of Spanish Lake, Mary Neinkemper of St. James, Dorothy Stevens of South Carolina, Anne Neal of Lancaster, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, and three sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. Friday. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Church, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
