SIKESTON, Mo. -- Alice Aufdenberg, 62, of Sikeston died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at her home.
She was born May 13, 1938, in Kingsport, Tenn., daughter of Norman B. and Kathleen Givens McKenzie Sr. She and Gene Raymond Aufdenberg were married June 21, 1959, in Holly Springs, Miss. He died Jan. 6, 1984.
Aufdenberg grew up in Holly Springs and was a 1959 graduate of Mississippi University for Women. She had lived in Sikeston since 1971.
She was president of New Madrid Tractor Co. in New Madrid, Mo., from 1984-92, and was vice president of Aufdenberg Equipment Co. in Sikeston from 1984-89. She was named Agri-Business Person of the Year in 1990.
Aufdenberg was a member of First United Methodist Church, taught Sunday School, and served on various councils and committees. She was a member of the Area Advisory Committee to the Council of Bishops in the Missouri East Conference.
She served on the boards of directors of United Cerebral Palsy and Missouri Delta Medical Center. She had been involved with Kenny Rogers Children's Center, Girl Scouts, United Way, March of Dimes, and American Heart Association.
Aufdenberg was a member of New Madrid County Farm Bureau, HB Chapter of PEO, and was co-founder of Theos support group. She was named Woman of Achievement in 1977 and Woman of the Year in 1979.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Reynolds of Chicago, Jeane Aufdenberg of Los Angeles, Alice DeVries of Lisbon, Portugal; a sister, Kay Kight of Byhalia, Miss.; two brothers, Norman McKenzie Jr. of Porter's Chapel, Miss., Danny McKenzie of Tupelo, Miss.; three grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church. Dr. Jim Davis and the Rev. Sandra Schaller will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
