GLENNON, Mo. -- Alfredia V. VanGennip, 85, of Glennon was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Mississippi County, Mo., the daughter of Clifton and Mamie Bond Blackwell, and passed away May 7, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Alfredia had been the center supervisor at the Arab and Marble Hill Headstarts.
Alfredia and Louis VanGennip were united in marriage in December 1963 in Chaffee, Mo. He preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1987.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Corbin of Southernland, Ore., and Tony (Marcia) VanGennip of Glennon; a daughter-in-law, Linda Corbin of Oakland, Ore.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a special friend, Frederick Cambron of Marston, Mo., and his daughters Anne Cambron and Susan Riley and his granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joe Corbin; a brother, Cletus Blackwell; and a sister, Lawanda Kalias.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Mo. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glennon.
