Alfreda Mae Hamilton, 87, of Scott City died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at Chaffee Nursing Center. She was born June 7, 1916, at Benton, Mo., daughter of Louis and Ellen Keesee Dickerson. She and Hershel Carl Hamilton were married March 23, 1935, at Jackson. He died Feb. 24, 1985...

Alfreda Mae Hamilton, 87, of Scott City died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born June 7, 1916, at Benton, Mo., daughter of Louis and Ellen Keesee Dickerson. She and Hershel Carl Hamilton were married March 23, 1935, at Jackson. He died Feb. 24, 1985.

Hamilton was a surgical technician in the maternity ward of Southeast Missouri Hospital. She retired in 1976. She was a member of New Life Methodist Church in Scott City.

Survivors include four sons, Carl Hamilton of Jackson, Louis Hamilton of Rockview, Mo., Kenneth Hamilton of Chaffee and Larry Hamilton of Lounds, Mo.; two daughters, Doris Yahn of Chaffee and Linda Lands of Delta; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Marvin Dickerson of Phoenix, Ariz.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Scott City.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The Rev. Rennie Phillips will officiate, with burial at Lightner Cemetery at Scott City.

Our precious mother has gone to join our dad in heaven. She will be greatly missed, but she will be safe with Jesus.
