Alexander Arlington Patrick Morton was born Aug. 20, 1990, in Modesto, California, to Eric and Kelly Morton.
He passed this life Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was 24.
Alex is survived by his parents; sister Katherine; and grandmother Wanda Carter of Cape Girardeau; the Ashley and Hughes families of San Diego; and his "sissy" Kristin Drury.
He was employed by Cottage Inn Pizza in Ann Arbor, where he was an assistant manager, and was a student at Washtenaw Community College. He attended Central High School, where he was a proud saxophone-playing member of the Central Tigers Marching Band. He was a Marching Tiger during the historic 2008 season when CHS won numerous competitions, including first place in a state marching band competition held at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.
Alex loved baseball and was a SEBA all-star first baseman in 2005 and 2006. He also loved music, eating good food, the beach, his dogs, and especially his family and friends.
He loved Michigan in the summer because he always said "it smells like ice cream." He had a love for Belize and created some great memories there exploring caves, tubing on the rivers, eating amazing food and jumping from boulders into the Big Rock Falls.
Alex was a fashionista with a special love for shoes (much like his mom). He was a joker, quick with a laugh and a smile that lit up a room -- and a hug that let you know you were loved. He also loved to eat and make chocolate chip pancakes at any time of the day or night.
He was a friend to many and well-loved by all. He will be greatly missed.
A life memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at La Croix United Methodist Church, 3102 Lexington Ave. The service will be officiated by the Revs. Ron Watts and JT Thomason.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Seeds of Dignity Ministries, 17076 Carriage Road, Sonora, California. All contributions will go to build boats for fishermen in the typhoon-ravaged area of Palompon, Philippines.
