Alene M. Schneier, age 91, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at the Monticello House in Jackson, where she had been a resident for one day.
She was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Cedar Fork, in Perry County, Mo., daughter of Joseph and Martha Bendel Henderson. She and William "Bill" Schneier were married June 2, 1936, in Jackson. He passed away on Nov. 19, 1978.
Alene attended grade school at Brazeau, Mo., and graduated from Perryville High School. She was a member, and a choir member, of Brazeau Presbyterian Church until she moved to Jackson in 1951. At that time, she became a member of Jackson First Presbyterian Church, where she taught children's Sunday school.
Alene worked at the former Schade's Cafe in Jackson, and 22 years at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill. She was a member of the former Jackson Hosiery Mill Bowling Team and the Jackson Senior Citizens Bowling Team. She also enjoyed traveling and bus tours.
Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, J.D. and Jo Ellen Schneier of Cape Girardeau; three grandsons, Rickey (Janet) Schneier of Gastonia, N.C., Bill Schneier of Mankato, Minn. and Scott Schneier of Sleepy Eye, Minn.; two granddaughters, Vicky (George) Halverson of Hayfield, Minn. and Leslie (Robert) Boggs of West Jefferson, Ohio; ten great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. Grant Gillard officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
