Aldyth Gragg, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Macks Creek, Mo., to Bryan and Lela Mary Kain Osborn. She and David Eugene Gragg were married May 30, 1947, in St. Louis. He preceded her in 1968.
Aldyth graduated from Cleveland High School in St. Louis in 1941, and William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo., in 1948 with a bachelor of arts degree in history. She later earned a bachelor of science degree at Southeast Missouri State University.
From 1967 to 1969 she was a teacher at Jefferson School in Cape Girardeau. In 1969 she became head of academic advising at Southeast until 1995, at which time she retired as associate registrar.
She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Southeast Missouri State University Copper Dome Society, Missouri State Teachers Association, Phi Alpha Theta, Mortar Board, SEMO Boosters and SEMO 25-Year Club. She was a member of Abbey Road Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, David Eugene (Tammy) Gragg Jr. of Cape Girardeau and John Bryan (Sally) Gragg of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two daughters, Rebecca Ann Holland of Woodland, Calif., and Martha Aldyth (Steve) Boyd of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sisters, Phyllis M. Gillespie of Federal Way, Wash., and Johanna Taylor of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, Trevor William (Carolina) Boyd, Tara Courtney Boyd, Lance David (Sherri) Gragg, Tracy Lynn (Bobby) Haggerty, Sarah Elizabeth (Pete) DeLuca, Shane Michael Holland, Ryan David (Susan) Holland, Seth Bryan Gragg and Adam Godwin Gragg; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Alden M. Osborn.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Abbey Road Christian Church, with the Rev. Rodger Kiepe officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
