CHARLESTON -- Alberta "Bertie" Housmon, 85, of Charleston died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Miner Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 7, 1913, in Sharon, Tenn., daughter of John and Rosie Hobbs Kinney. She and Oscar Housmon were married Jan. 8, 1930. He died Aug. 12, 1980.
Housmon lived in Mississippi County most of her life.
Survivors include three sons, James and Eugene Housmon of Anniston, Louie Housmon of Bertrand; six daughters, Betty Rankin of Boaz, Ky., Doris Mitchell of Sikeston, Ida Gonzalez of Banquete, Texas, Evelyn Hamm of Maysville, N.C., Nelda Jones of Charleston, and Elsie Freeman of Anniston.
Also surviving is a brother, Bryant Kinney of Kerrville, Texas; two sisters, Orvilla Jacobs of Hotchkiss, Colo., Lindy Hart of St. Louis; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, and four sisters.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
