GORDONVILLE, Mo. -- Albert H. "Bud" Wessell, 89, of Gordonville passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at his home.
Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, Mo.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Schwiesow will officiate.
Mr. Wessell was born March 23, 1911, in Dutchtown, Mo., son of the late H.W.A. Wessell and Lilly Muster Wessell. He and Dorothy Gross were married Dec. 30, 1944. Mrs. Wessell survives.
Other loving survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Thomas C. Sparkman of Cape Girardeau; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Robert and MaeBeth Wessell and Mark Alan and Linda Wessell of Gordonville; three grandsons, Mark Hahn and fianc Angel Atchley of Kirksville, Mo., Jasen Wessell and wife Alissa of Millers-ville, Mo., Hunter Wessell of Gordonville; four granddaughters, Tara King and husband Shawn of Cape Girardeau, Jennifer Wallis and husband Billy of Millersville, Whitney and Logan Wessell of Gordonville.
Also surviving is a stepgrandson, Randy Sparkman and wife Laura of Cape Girardeau, a great-stepgrandson, Thomas Sumner Sparkman; a great-stepgranddaughter, Blake Sparkman of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Clarence Wessel of Chaffee, Mo.; two sisters, Ida Sander and Louise Nussbaum of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Wayne Wessell; a brother, George Wessell; three sisters, Hilda Eggimann, Lydia Wachter and Amanda Wessell.
Mr. Wessell was baptized and confirmed as a child and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. He had been involved in church activities, including the Men's Club and the Dartball League, and held various offices.
Mr. Wessell farmed and was a carpenter before his retirement. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors.
