Albert Schumacher, 96, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Golden Living Facility in Rochester, Minnesota.
He was born Jan. 1, 1918, in Cape Girardeau to Frederick Anton and Ruth Lee Smith Schumacher.
Albert graduated from Central High School in 1936 and attended Southeast Missouri State University two years before heading to Hollywood to pursue an acting career. He pursued his love of performing many years before returning to the Midwest.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Goldsmith Patterson of Portland, Oregon, and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; two grandsons, Chris and David Patterson of Portland and Coeur d'Alene; eight nieces and nephews, Dale Schumacher of San Francisco, Lee (Wayne) Piersol of Oakland, California, Frederick (Mary) Schumacher of Cincinnati, Michael (Ana) Young of Sacramento, California, Vicki (Mike) Long of Cape Girardeau, Julie (Vincent) Draper of Benton, Missouri, Sandra Young of La Quinta, California, and Edward L. Downs Jr. of Cape Girardeau.
The surviving nieces and nephews would like to thank Randy and Charla Schultz of Rochester for their caring devotion to Uncle Albert over the last 25 years and extend gratitude to his social worker, Ms. Tammy Gross of Rochester, who helped oversee his care for the last 15 years of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Carl and Howard Schumacher, Pauline Young and Juanita Downs.
Interment was private at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
