SIKESTON -- Albert LeRoy "RCY" Marks, 80, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Dyersburg, Tenn., after an extended illness.
He was born April 4, 1919, in Columbus, Kan., son of Albert Lynn and Agnes Palicero Marks.
He married Mildred E. Friedline on Feb. 25, 1939, in Jackson. She died Sept. 28, 1999.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman first class during World War II. He formerly co-owned and operated Marks and Stearns Grocery Store and Marks and Marks Grocery Store in Sikeston. He also founded Swamp Fox Lures Inc., in Sikeston, making and selling fishing lures.
He provided jobs for the Community Sheltered Workshop in Sikeston. He was a member of the Association for Retarded Citizens in Missouri. He was a member and former deacon of the First Christian Church in Sikeston.
He is survived by two sons, Lee Marks of Pensacola, Fla., and Johnny Marks of Higginsville; a daughter, Jean Lowe Marks of Lexington, Tenn.; two brothers, Lonnie Marks of Cambria, Ill., and Frank Marks of Royalton, Ill.; two sisters, Leona Morgan of Zeigler, Ill., and Doris Tephold of Drayton Plains, Mich; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren;He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Mary McCord officiating.
Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
