MOUNDS, Ill. -- Albert Irving Connell, 81, of rural Mounds died Friday, Jan. 27, 1995, at his home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1914, at Mounds, the son of W.I. and Marietta Schoenfeld Connell.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mounds, Elks Lodge 651 in Cairo, and the Zeta Phi Fraternity of the University of Illinois.
He was a retired farmer and Metropolitan Life insurance agent and president of the Spencer Heights Cemetery Association.
He was a former member of the Southern Illinois Senior Golfers Association and was a past golf champion at the Egyptian Country Club at Mounds.
He married Lucille Henson, who died Aug. 27, 1987.
Survivors are two sons, Robert Allen Connell of Alton, Ill., and John Irving Connell of Mounds; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son and two brothers.
Visitation will be today beginning at 4 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. Friends also may call Tuesday after 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mounds.
Service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Bill McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds.
