MOUNDS, Ill. -- Albert Irving Connell, 81, of rural Mounds died Friday, Jan. 27, 1995, at his home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1914, at Mounds, the son of W.I. and Marietta Schoenfeld Connell.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mounds, Elks Lodge 651 in Cairo, Ill., and the Zeta Phi Fraternity of the University of Illinois. He was a retired farmer and Metropolitan Life Insurance agent and president of the Spencer Heights Cemetery Association.
He was a former member of the Southern Illinois Senior Golfers Association and was a past golf champion at the Egyptian Country Club at Mounds.
He was married to Lucille Henson, who preceded him in death Aug. 27, 1987. He was also preceded in death by one son and two brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Allen Connell and John Irving Connell, both of Mounds; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday beginning at 4 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill. Friends may also call Tuesday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mounds with the Rev. Bill McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds.
