FROHNA, Mo.-- Albert F. Heeszel, 90, of Frohna died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1918, in Murphysboro, Ill., son of Adolph and Katherine Hartenberger Heeszel. He and Elva Gemeinhardt were married Dec. 8, 1945. She died Dec. 29, 2004...

FROHNA, Mo.-- Albert F. Heeszel, 90, of Frohna died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 15, 1918, in Murphysboro, Ill., son of Adolph and Katherine Hartenberger Heeszel. He and Elva Gemeinhardt were married Dec. 8, 1945. She died Dec. 29, 2004.

Heeszel had worked at Frohna Creamery and was a night watchman at East Perry Lumber Co. He was city clerk of Frohna 35 years, and treasurer of gas board for cities of Altenburg and Frohna since its inception in 1966.

He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Men's Club, and past elder 12 years, and member of VFW Post 4282 and American Legion Post 133.

Heeszel was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert (Helen "Lucy") Heeszel of St. Louis; a sister, Emma Heeszel of Murphysboro, Ill.; two granddaughters, Sara (Adam) Wedel of St. Louis, Susan (Douglas) Fiehler of Tucson, Ariz.; and three great-grandchildren, Anne and Kate Wedel and Ellen Fiehler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, Otto and Ervin Heeszel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 to 8 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, Mo. A VFW wake will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, with the Rev. Rod Benkendorf officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, KFUO or the Lutheran Hour.
