BENTON -- Albert Franklin Baldwin, 68, of Benton, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1993, at his home. He was born Jan. 28, 1924, at Charter Oak, son of Arzie and Bertie Barnett Baldwin Sr. He and Hazel June Tharp were married Dec. 1, 1946. She died April 26, 1978...

BENTON -- Albert Franklin Baldwin, 68, of Benton, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1993, at his home.

He was born Jan. 28, 1924, at Charter Oak, son of Arzie and Bertie Barnett Baldwin Sr. He and Hazel June Tharp were married Dec. 1, 1946. She died April 26, 1978.

Baldwin was a bus driver at Kelly High School. He was a member of Benton United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 184 AF & AM and VFW Post 5368, both at Morley.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Baldwin of Scott City, Anthony Baldwin, Benton Route 1; three daughters, Jacqueline Backfisch of Scott City, Betty Wylde of Champaign, Ill., Donna Baldwin of Sikeston; five brothers, Arzie Baldwin Jr. of Essex, Billy Baldwin of Catron, R.H. Baldwin of Cuba, Mo., Ronnie Baldwin of Benton, Rick Baldwin of Scott City; three sisters, Mary Swinger of Dexter, Polly Pannebecker of Cape Girardeau, Saunie Breece of Jackson, and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Benton United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Gregory will officiate, with burial in Essex Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post at Morley.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City after 4 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
