Albert Edwin Byrd, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born June 17, 1927, in Brownwood, Texas, son of Robert and Ina Rainey Byrd. He and Vivian Sue Jacobs were married Nov. 14, 1981, in Cape Girardeau.

Byrd was formerly vice president of marketing with Riker Laboratories in Los Angeles, Calif., was a cattle rancher in Junction, Texas, started Coors of Cape in 1978, and was in sales and marketing of Braswell Water Quality Systems in Jackson. He was a founder of SEMotion Relays.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from June 1945 to June 1949.

Survivors include his wife, and a sister, Norma Allgood of San Antonio, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to service time Monday.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will be in Thebes City Cemetery in Thebes, Ill., with military rites by VFW Post 3838 and the Marine Corps League.
