Albert L. Brugger, 99, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 8, 1921, in Gordonville, the son of Charles and Helen Kirn Brugger. He and Betty Spalding married Aug. 28, 1947. She passed away Jan. 20, 2002.
Albert was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
He was a veteran of World War II, having been inducted into the U.S. Army on June 9, 1944, and honorably discharged Dec. 18, 1945. During his time in service, Albert received campaign medals for Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He worked as a heavy-equipment operator for Erlbacher Equipment Co. in Cape Girardeau and had previously worked at Jackson Lumber Co. and Johannes Auto Sales in Jackson.
Albert was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Tina Brugger of Jackson; and grandsons, Tyler and Cody Brugger, also of Jackson.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wayne Brugger; brothers, Edward and Paul Brugger; sister, Julietta Brugger; and infant brother.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
