Albert Alphonse Dittlinger, 86, 1510 Whitener, died Wednesday, June 15, 1994, at his home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1908, in Cape Girardeau, son of Albert Christian and Hulda Christina Erickson Dittlinger. He and Helen Dial were married July 4, 1935, in Benton.
Dittlinger was a towboat captain 47 years, retiring in 1972 from Midwest Towing in St. Louis. He was a member of Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge, Cape Chapter 60 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Post 63, Teamsters Local 574, all in Cape Girardeau; 32nd Scottish Rite and Moolah Temple in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942-48.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Eric Dittlinger of Sikeston; a sister, Laura Eakins of Sikeston; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren, and nine great-stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ed Brasington officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
