AL KARRAKER

ANNA, Ill. -- Elvin T. "Al" Karraker Jr., 73, of Anna died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Marion VA Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 15, 1927, in Marion, son of Elvin and Bertha Leona Goodman Karraker. He and Mellie Manus Morgan were married July 22, 1983, in Goreville, Ill.

Karraker retired as a stationary engineer at the SIU Power Plant, and was a locksmith 34 years.

He attended Anna Church of Christ, and was a member of Anna VFW Post 3455 and Anna American Legion Post 344. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Sharon Jones of Jonesboro; and a stepgrandson.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with John Shelton and the Rev. Marion Moseley officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 3455.
