Agnes Pobst
ST. LOUIS -- Agnes L. Pobst, 97, of St. Louis, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Sherbrooke Village in St. Louis.
She was born April 3, 1911, in Commerce, Mo., daughter of John R. and Agnes Anna Glueck Scherer. She and Robert J. Pobst were married Sept. 30, 1930, in New Hamburg, Mo. He died Feb. 23, 2000.
Pobst was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and a member of the Saint Francis Medical Center Auxiliary. She was employed at Southeast Missouri State University from 1961 until her retirement in 1973.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Czarnecki of St. Louis, Janet Jackson of Dallas; a son, Donald R. Pobst of Charlotte Hall, Md.; nine grandchildren; and 21 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, five sisters, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel, with parish prayers at 7 p.m.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
