BERTRAND -- Agnes L. Cunningham of Bertrand died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was 81. She was born April 12, 1917, in Mountain Grove to Lee Paul and Tressie Amelia Wood Mankin Sr. She married Carl Eugene "Billy" Cunningham on Feb. 11, 1938. He died Dec. 11, 1986...

BERTRAND -- Agnes L. Cunningham of Bertrand died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was 81.

She was born April 12, 1917, in Mountain Grove to Lee Paul and Tressie Amelia Wood Mankin Sr. She married Carl Eugene "Billy" Cunningham on Feb. 11, 1938. He died Dec. 11, 1986.

She had lived in Mississippi County most of her life and was the owner of the Cunningham Cafe in Bertrand from 1946 until 1957. She was employed by the Mississippi County Division of Family Services in 1956, serving as county director from 1965 until her retirement in 1980.

She was a member of the first United Methodist Church of Sikeston and a charter member of DAEOC and Head Start of Portageville.

She most recently owned and operated Cunningham Yarn Shop in Bertrand, offering machine quilting.

She is survived by a daughter, Paula Jean Cunningham of Bertrand, and a brother, Lee Paul Mankin of Oak Harbor, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.

Funeral will be at the church at 1 p.m. Monday, with Dr. Jim Davis and the Rev. Rick Lasley officiating.

Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery north of Charleston.
