PERRYVILLE -- Adolph A. Meyer, 78, of Perryville died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 2, 1919, at Apple Creek, son of August A. and Wilhelmina A. Unterreiner Meyer. He and Willette R. Ponder were married Sept. 5, 1949, at Apple Creek...

PERRYVILLE -- Adolph A. Meyer, 78, of Perryville died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 2, 1919, at Apple Creek, son of August A. and Wilhelmina A. Unterreiner Meyer. He and Willette R. Ponder were married Sept. 5, 1949, at Apple Creek.

Meyer was a farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Apple Creek and its Men's Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul Meyer of Perryville; four daughters, Mary Zoellner of Friedheim, Eileen Alkemeyer of Bartlesville, Okla., Karen Kohlfeld of Perryville, and Linda Martin of Fruitland.

Also surviving are four brothers, Walter Meyer of Apple Creek, Lonnie, Wilfred and Eugene Meyer of St. Louis; five sisters, Trula Vandeven of Apple Creek, Viola Tolcou and Frances Winschel of St. Louis, Mary Weisbrod of Jackson, Sister Virginia Meyer of St. James; and 16 grandchildren.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 2-9 p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 6:30-10 a.m. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by the VFW service at 7:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, with the Rev. Terry Borgerding officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
