Adolph Ludwig

Adolph Gustav Charles Ludwig, 89, of Jackson died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Cape Girardeau County near Fruitland, son of Louis and Ida Tuschhoff Ludwig. He and Olga Henry were married May 30, 1942.

Adolph was inducted into the U.S. Army June 13, 1941, and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged Sept. 7, 1945.

He was a self-employed building contractor and constructed many homes in the Jackson area. He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, and was a faithful member of St. John's United Church of Christ near Fruitland, where he was active in many capacities.

Survivors include his wife, Olga; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Mary Ludwig; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Mike Redman; a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Luella Ludwig, all of Jackson; three grandchildren, Chad Ludwig of Jackson, Tonya Arnold of Delhi, La., Michael Cook of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Skyler and Devon Shelley of Delhi.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today. An American Legion service will be held at 7.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Schaffner officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery, with graveside military honors.
