SIKESTON, Mo. -- Ada Jean Laird Armstrong, 69, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at her home. She was born Jan. 4, 1932, in New Madrid, Mo., daughter of Clifford and Berdie Lee Clayton Laird. She and James Armstrong were married March 31, 1979. Mrs. Armstrong retired as a customer service representative with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She had also been a volunteer with the Billy Graham Crusade. She was a member of First Baptist Church...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Ada Jean Laird Armstrong, 69, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at her home.

She was born Jan. 4, 1932, in New Madrid, Mo., daughter of Clifford and Berdie Lee Clayton Laird. She and James Armstrong were married March 31, 1979.

Mrs. Armstrong retired as a customer service representative with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She had also been a volunteer with the Billy Graham Crusade. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, David Lee and Beverly Hale of Cape Girardeau; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Jim and Judy Armstrong of Sikeston; a sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Alan Lefler of Yukon, Okla.; three granddaughters, Carly Armstrong of Sikeston, Melena Broglin and Page Halford of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Lewis Laird and Charles Laird.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. David Jackson, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
