A.D. Price, 77, of 1612 Greenbrier, Cape Girardeau died Oct. 7, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born Nov. 28, 1922, at Beebe, Ark., son of Arthur D. and Ethel Hall Price. A.D. Price, 77, of 1612 Greenbrier, Cape Girardeau died Oct. 7, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born Nov. 28, 1922, at Beebe, Ark., son of Arthur D. and Ethel Hall Price. He and Betty June Taylor were married July 31, 1952, at Piggott, Ark.

At an early age, he moved to Osceola, Ark., where he attended schools. He served in the Army during World War II, throughout the South Pacific. After discharge from the Army, he worked in the retail lumber business in Arkansas and Sikeston, Mo., for 12 years before coming to Cape Girardeau in July 1958 to serve as general manager of Southeast Missouri Lumber Co. After leaving Southeast Missouri Lumber Co., he began A.D. Price Construction Co. and in the mid-'70s he founded and owned Century 21 Key Realty. In July 1958, he joined the Downtown Rotary Club of Cape Girardeau, where he was a member for more than 25 years. He served as president of the Southeast Missouri Lumbermen Association in 1961 and also served as director of the Southeast Lumbermen Association in Kansas City, Mo. In 1981, he served as president of the Southeast Missouri Home Builders Association. He helped to form the Associated Building Centers in 1962 and was Chairman of the Board for 19 years. He was a long time member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Cape Girardeau. He was a member of the Harold O. Grauel Lodge #672 of Cape Girardeau as well as the Scottish Rite and Moolah Shrine of St. Louis.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Price of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Tammy Price Weir and son-in-law, Bruce Weir, of Carrollton, Texas; a son, Chris Price and daughter-in-law, Lorri Price, of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren, Emily, Kelsey and Brett Weir and Morgan and Makenzie Price. He is survived by two nephews, Gary M. Arnold of Cape Girardeau and Donald Farris of Clayton, Mo. He is survived by one sister, Opal Cyphers of Jackson, Mich., and he was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Monday.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Clayton Smith of Centenary United Methodist Church will officiate, with entombment at Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau. Memorials to be given to the Centenary United Methodist Church building fund.
