JACKSON -- A 16-year-old youth was listed in stable condition in St. Francis Medical Center following a one-vehicle accident near Jackson Wednesday night.
Missouri State Police said David Bendel of Jackson suffered injuries when the vehicle in which he was riding left the roadway and landed in a ditch.

Authorities identified the driver of the vehicle as Leland Thompson, 17, of Jackson.
A state police spokesman said the accident occurred about 9 p.m. Wednesday, when Thompson, heading east, lost control of the vehicle on Route 34 about six miles west of Jackson.
