Styles of leadership, motivating workers, and steps in the process for planning and organizing work activities by construction supervisors were among topics discussed during a three-day workshop conducted at the Holiday Inn last week.
More than 30 people from area companies, including Girardeau Contractors Inc. and Penzel Construction Co., attended the workshop, titled "Introduction: The Construction Supervisor."
"This is a national program, designed by Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America, to provide management training for construction foremen, superintendents, projects managers and contractor personnel," said Dennis Carter, an instructor at the seminar.
Carter, vice president of Quinn Concrete of Marshall, Mo., has 34 years of experience in contracting, engineering and pre-stressed concrete supply.
The program is one of a series of supervisory training programs offered by AGC of Missouri, headquartered at Jefferson City.
Other programs in the series will be offered at Cape Girardeau.
A "Problems Solving & Decision Making" seminar will be offered here Feb. 17-19, and "Project Management" will be presented here March 17-19.
Additional information on the programs is available by contacting ACG of Missouri, (314)-636-3188.
